Being human
“Being Human - an artistic dialog of emotions”
In 2019, Martin Gautsch devoted himself intensively to human psychology and the conscious handling of our feelings. In doing so, he explored how thoughts, emotions and actions are connected.
This exploration gave rise to the series “Being Human”. Gautsch worked on logs with a chainsaw. He intuitively chose the type of wood and the technique he used to create the life-size sculptures. These figures reflect life situations and carry a profound emotional dimension.

Focus on people
The sculptures in the “Being Human” series address the emotional vulnerability of existence and the opportunities that life offers us to master different situations.
Gautsch examines the different roles we take on - whether as victims, seekers or creators. With these sculptures, he addresses and works on the relationships to our fears, to freedom, to the urge to belong and to the search for meaning.
The artworks from the “Being Human” series encourage us to let go of obstructive beliefs and invite us to use our freedom of choice to develop ourselves further.
